Being a TSFL Health Advisor can be a wonderful full or part time job – a
great way to make money while helping others get healthy. You are providing
a great product and making a difference in people’s lives by improving their
physical health while you are improving your financial health.

Annual Renewal
Completing the application
The first step in becoming a HA is to complete the TSFL application and
agreement. You must complete and return the white copy to TSFL within 30
days of receipt. Send the yellow copy to your sponsor (i.e. Medifast Tucson)
and keep the pink copy. You will not be paid any commission until this form
is returned and accepted. Complete and return the Checklist to TSFL as well.
Taking the test
Your Health Advisor Manual is a very important document. Read it thoroughly
and become familiar with its contents. The Quick Start Guide is also
required reading. You will need this information to take the basic product
knowledge test and then to serve your customers. The test is open book, you
can take the practice tests as many times as you want, and you are given
plenty of time to complete the test. You can take the test online using the
login information sent by email or return the paper version provided in the
HA Manual. This test needs to be completed within 30 days of ordering your
Health Advisor packet. You will not be paid any commission until you pass
this test.
To increase your knowledge and ability to serve your
customers, we recommend that you take the advanced certification
training. Give yourself a couple months to absorb the basics
then get this helpful additional training. It can be ordered
from the ADVISOR MATERIALS area of the shopping cart.
Your co-branded website
A great tool provided as part of your package is a complete
website with a unique URL for you and your customers’ use. You
can refer prospective customers to it for product and program
information and current customers can place their own orders
through its shopping cart, giving you automatic credit for their
purchases. Instructions for setting up this website are found in
your Health Advisor Manual, Section 4. (If you need help, please
call us.) Once set up, no further effort on your part is
required. All hosting and updating activity is handled by TSFL.
Receiving compensation
The best way to understand the compensation plan is to read the
125 page Your Guide to Success: Starting Your Take Shape For
Life Business. It is also covered in Section 3 of the Health
Advisor Manual. Remember that you will not be paid until your
application and basic knowledge test are completed. Any
commissions you earn will be accrued on account until TSFL
receives your application and exam. We recommend signing up for
automatic deposit of your commission checks by completing the
Direct Deposit Form in the Back Office. You can view your
current commission details and past commission summary in the
Back Office under weekly, 12 month Bonus and Commission
Activity. Retail Commissions are paid weekly (2 weeks in
arrears), and Growth and Leadership bonuses are paid on the 15th
of the following month.
Becoming Certified
Take your knowledge and ability to serve your customers to the
next level by becoming certified. While optional, certification
gives you more confidence and credibility with your customers.
You will receive additional materials to study and then take an
online test. Similar to the basic knowledge test, you can take
numerous practice exams and have plenty of time to complete the
actual test.
Tasting tips
Getting a group of potential and current customers together to
learn about Medifast and sample Medifast meals is a great way to
obtain new customers. These gatherings are called “tastings”. As
part of your health advisor package you received the 48 page
Tasting Guide: the Path to Success manual. It contains lots of
great information about tastings. A great new tool for
one-on-one or small meetings is the Making Optimal Health a
Reality flip chart with presentation notes. With it, in a very
short time you can be confidently presenting the TSFL program.

In addition to those TSFL materials, Medifast Tucson has
developed a few helpful documents such as suggested supplies to
have for your tastings and a pre-meeting check list. We will
also be glad to talk to you about your specific tasting
questions.
Some advisors also host support meetings for current customers,
often in conjunction with tastings.
Online Tools
TSFL supplies you with numerous resources to manage your
customers and business through an online program called the Back
Office. It is a greatly expanded version of what customers see
when they log in. As a Health Advisor, you are able to get
detailed information about your customers, query your customer
list by a variety of criteria, track your earnings, track your
communications with your customers, download corporate forms and
literature, learn about corporate programs and keep up-to-date
on corporate news. Just log in with your customer ID and
password and explore the options in the left side frame.
Especially look under Company Related, Documents on Demand,
Customer Development & Retention Tools.
Corporate Communications
An electronic newsletter will be automatically sent to you via
email once a week – called the TSFL E-Update. It contains
company news, product availability updates, promotions and other
information important to health advisors. If you do not receive
this email, check your spam folder and filter to see if it is
being blocked or deleted as junk mail. Prior newsletters can be
found in your Back Office under Company Related, Field
Communications.
A semi-monthly magazine entitled Inside TSFL is also published
and available through the Back Office under Documents on Demand.
It contains messages from management, helpful advice and other
useful information. Look for your name in it as you rise up in
rank!
Staying in touch with your customers
Because of the personal nature of these products, your personal
involvement with your customers is critical to their and your
success. Be sure to develop an easy, consistent method to track
and regularly contact your current and prospective customers.
Use any method that works for you: index cards, a personal
digital assistant, paper or computer-based time management
system, etc. TSFL provides some contact tracking tools in the
Back Office such as online messages, a to-do list, and printable
detailed customer data. Many ideas for good customer relations
are described in the Your Guide to Success: Starting Your Take
Shape For Life Business manual.
Marketing Support Materials
Many great materials have been created by TSFL for your use in
finding and supporting your customers such as business cards,
brochures, order forms, tasting supplies, a video, newsletter,
advertising kit, branded clothing, etc. Look for them under
PROGRAM MATERIALS, ADVISOR MATERIALS and TSFL TOOLS in the
shopping cart. You may want to create your own materials. Be
sure to get approval from TSFL Marketing first however. Medifast
Tucson has also developed many materials and marketing programs
which we will be glad to discuss and share with you.
Conferences and training
You will be invited to various special events. The annual TSFL
Health Advisor conference is a fantastic event where you can
attend educational sessions to help you grow your business, be
recognized for your achievements, and meet fellow health
advisors as well as Medifast and TSFL executives. Additional
special trainings are often held throughout the year, across the
country.
Leadership calls
Fresh ideas, news and motivation for your business are provided
weekly in the free leadership call hosted by TSFL management
exclusively for Health Advisors. These calls are live and
interactive so you can ask questions of other successful Health

Advice articles
Several articles have been written by highly successful health
advisors in which they share some of the secrets of their
success. Many of these were first presented at one of the annual
conferences. You can find and read these articles in the Back

Advancing in the organization
Becoming a health advisor is just the start. As you grow your
customer base and perhaps get health advisors of your own
reporting to you, you will advance in title and income. The
