Medifast has many
advantages over its competitors
COMPARE
MEDIFAST DIET PRODUCTS AND PROGRAMS TO OTHERS
Medifast is certainly not the only company to offer weight loss
programs and products that help you slim down and get healthy.
It may however, be the best for you. When evaluating products
and programs for something as critical and personal as your
health and self-image, there are several key factors to
consider:
o Safety
o Quality
o Effectiveness & clinical proof
o Physician recommendations
o Support & education provided
o Ease of use/effort involved
o Company reputation
o Cost
o Taste
Consider carefully what you need and want from a weight loss and
health improvement product and program, your ability to adhere
and commit to its plan, and the total cost of improving your
health versus doing nothing. You may want to complete the
following and keep it handy when evaluating Medifast diet
products and its competitors.
How important are each of the following factors are to you when
evaluating weight loss or health improvement programs and/or
products?

EXPENSE
How much is being overweight costing you?
Medical: Are you taking pills or seeing a physician for a
chronic medical condition(s) exacerbated or even caused by your
weight such as diabetes, high blood pressure, joint problems,
etc.? What is the monthly cost of those pills and
doctor/hospital bills? How much would you save if you could
reduce or eliminate some of these conditions? According to a
2002 study by the Rand Corporation, obese individuals spend 36
percent more on health care, and 21 percent more on medication,
than daily smokers and heavy drinkers. And what is the future
cost of potentially new medical problems? The longer you are
overweight, the more pervasive and serious such conditions
become.
Social/employment: Have you experienced problems getting hired,
promoted, a date, comfortable seats on commercial
transportation, fashionable clothes, or even courteous attention
from sales people? It is an unfortunate fact of our society that
overweight people are often discriminated against in many
business and social situations. Your personality, intelligence
and attitude can mitigate some of this prejudice, but not all.
What potential income have you not made or additional expenses
have you incurred due to your weight?
Food: How much do you really spend on food a month? Include all
meals out, snacks from a vending machine, impulse food buys at a
check out stand, ‘in between” trips to the grocery store, fast
food drive-throughs, etc. Those “little” snacks and meals here
and there can quickly add up to a significant monthly expense.
Remember, Medifast meals replace 80% of your current grocery
shopping, meals out and snacks – they are NOT an additional
cost.
Total Cost
Add up all of the above costs. What are you actually spending to
maintain your current weight?
